Memorial Day weekend turned out to be much less productive than I had planned, but we spent the time with friends and family, and it felt like the first "normal" weekend in over a year. Bad for the project, but good for the soul!
With the exception of finishing the baseboards, we have completed the shell of the room! Next up is building the desk. I had toiled over the desk cabinets because I had a specific look in mind. I knew that attempting to build them ourselves wouldn't fit into the timeline, and in-stock cabinets from Lowe's, Home Depot or IKEA weren't fitting the bill. I decided to have the cabinets custom built by someone else which turned out to be roughly the same price as the in-stock cabinets at the stores. Here's a preview:
Next, we'll be building the desk top along with matching shelves.
Now, can we talk about HomeGoods a minute? Last week, I was griping about the unavailability of virtually everything. There was a lamp in particular that I had my heart set on that is backordered until SEPTEMBER. I decided to try my luck at HomeGoods, and low and behold, I found a lamp that I love even more than the original one I had my eye on. I also found a few other decor pieces to style on the shelves. Things are starting to come together!
THIS WEEKEND'S TO-DOS:
Finish installing baseboards
Install desk cabinets
